Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection

A small but important feature of MeBeam, is the ability to know who said what, in the MeBeam chat window, without the need to have a username.

This is accomplished by taking a snapshot of the person who typed in the chat window, so you can identify that person by their web cam image.

Unfortunately, not everyone has a web cam, and until now, these users all appeared as a light greenish blue box.

To differentiate chat messages from people without cam, I have now made it so, that these users has a unique color.

Now you should be able to determine who said what, unless of course your color blind.

Great idea, but i still would not mind if MeBeam has a possibility to give a name to yr stream. I have been text-chatting with over 10 unknown people in the random rooms and it is difficult to say something to 'Man with the green shirt, no not the old green man with the green shirt, but the young one, the one with the curly hair'.

You all should look at chatablanca.com When you type a message a cloud pops up next to your webcam so people know it's you talking. Their flash application is amazing.

It is simple, but don't overload video-server.

I have been visiting MeBeam for a decent time, almost a year, and features come and go.

I cannot access any random rooms, I cannot run
the 'server' and nothing seems to work anymore.

What is up with MeBeam?
