The Skype multi video conferencing service is temporarily down, due to the unforeseen surge of people who have signed up for the service.
Although a full 1gigabit pipe was dedicated to this feature, it seems it is not enough to quench everyones thirst for multi person video conferencing using Skype.
The service will be down for a few days, until I think of a way so that it works on a clustered architecture, and can scale the same way MeBeam does.
I think you might like this scheduler for your site...

Would it be possible to to set up our own MeBeam server locally for multi-user video conferences within our own group of users at a non-profit company? For instance, we run our own Jabber server (instead of using outside AOL/etc) - this would be similar - thanks!

i second the idea of having the system hosted locally. We use Jabber today to manage our IM internally but have about 1200 people now on Skype as well.
I think you have hit a common problem with multi-video services = bandwidth. With over 10m users of skype on line, there is a market, just how to market it is the question.

Looking for a way to deliver support group services to a geographically diverse group. Skype video conferencing looks like an ideal platform.

Is there any news on whether this is fixed and the service now available? I need to setup a video conference for next week, so I'm researching options at the moment - this sounds really good, if it is working again?
