The Skype's the Limit

If you are Skype user, your in for a bit of a treat - multi person video conferencing over skype, and cross-portability with jabber.

This is big news, as it means, your video calls are no longer limited by one to one conferencing, and can finally break free from the confines of the Skype network.

You will be able to make a video call with up to 16 people at once, and everyone in the conference can be on different instant messengers.

So if your using Adium, MeeBo or Google Talk it doesn't matter, you can call up to 16 of your friends on Skype or have them call you.

MeBeam Rooms Simplified

Someone said, that if you can't explain a result in simple, nontechnical terms, then you really don't understand it.
Although, I don't know who said this, it is one of my favorite quotes.

Links to MeBeam rooms have a fairly unmemorable and unattractive style, and a result you probably have been
unaware that you can bookmark and reuse room names, and let others know about your room, by emailing, blogging or sharing your rooms web address.

Anyway to cut a long story short - literally - Your MeBeam rooms web address is www.mebeam.com slash and the name of your room.

For example: www.mebeam.com/SamsPlace

Now. Sam, can put his MeBeam web address on his blog, or tell his friends by email etc and everyone that bookmarks it, is always, only a click away from his MeBeam room.

I'm MeBeam

A few months ago I wrote about XMPP the technology that drives jabber based instant messengers such as Adium and Google Talk, and even technologies such as Twitter.
After months of planning, MeBeam, along with Google etc, is now part of the XMPP Federation, so you can be sure that your mebeam.com username is portable and will work everywhere.

Although your mebeam.com username can be used with any instant messenger, my personal favorite is Coccinella.
